Common questions

I didn't get my sign-in code

GHOSTED uses a 6-digit email code instead of a password. Check your spam folder and make sure you entered the right email address. Codes expire after an hour. If yours has expired, request a new one.

Still nothing after a few minutes? Email us and we'll look into it.

How do daily check-ins work?

Choose your daily deadline in Settings, then tap I’m okay any time before it. One tap completes today's check-in. If you choose 8 PM but check in over breakfast, tomorrow you still have until 8 PM. Choosing your check-in time is included in the free plan.

If you miss your deadline, the free plan gives you a 2-hour grace period. If you still haven't checked in, Ghosted sends an email or Telegram alert through each channel your contacts have confirmed. With Premium, you can adjust the grace period and choose how far ahead of your deadline to get a reminder.

If you joined before daily schedules were introduced, your timer will keep counting from your last check-in until you save a daily schedule in Settings.

Will my deadline change when I travel?

Ghosted keeps the time zone you chose, even if your phone switches to a new one. In Settings, you can choose a different time zone or use your phone's current time zone.

Can I check in from the Home Screen?

Yes. Add the Ghosted widget to your Home Screen. On iOS 17 or later, tap Still Here in the widget to check in without opening the app. On iOS 16, the widget opens Ghosted. You need an internet connection for your check-in to be saved.

How do I change the language?

Ghosted supports English and Russian. It uses your phone's language unless you choose another in Settings. The widget and new email and Telegram invitations and alerts use that same language. Messages already sent won't change.

How do I add a trusted contact?

Go to the People tab and add their name, then choose email, Telegram, or both. For email, enter their address and Ghosted sends an invitation they can accept in their browser. For Telegram, share their invitation link so they can accept through the Ghosted bot. Each channel needs its own confirmation before alerts begin. They don't need the Ghosted app.

You can add one contact for free, or up to five with Premium. A person using both email and Telegram still counts as one contact.

My contact hasn’t received their email invitation

Ask them to check their spam folder, then check the email address in People. You can resend the invitation from their contact details when the resend option becomes available. An invitation that has been sent is still waiting for them to accept.

If they already confirmed but aren't seeing alerts, check that email is still enabled for that contact. They can stop email alerts using the link in an alert email; Telegram stays separate.

Can I send a test alert?

Not yet. Check that your contact has confirmed email or Telegram in People, and agree on what they should do if an alert arrives.

I'm going away. How do I pause it?

Pause check-ins in Settings (called Travel Mode in earlier versions). This pauses both check-ins and contact alerts. Tell your contact you're taking a break, and resume when you're ready.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Apple manages your subscription. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. If you cancel, your subscription won't renew. You'll keep Premium until the end of your paid period.

Got a new phone or reinstalled the app? Tap Restore purchases in Premium.

How do I delete my account?

Open Settings in the app and choose Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, check-in history, settings, and contact details. You can't undo it, and you don't need to contact support.

Does GHOSTED track my location?

No. The app doesn't track or store your location. GHOSTED records when you check in. For details, see the Privacy Policy.

Is this an emergency service?

No. GHOSTED does not contact emergency services. If you haven't checked in when the grace period ends, it alerts contacts who accepted your invitation. They decide how to respond. Ghosted can't guarantee they'll see the alert or take action. It is not a medical or health monitoring service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
